Living Law pupils visit Parliament Buildings

Publication date:

Continuing with his commitment to make law accessible to young students, the Attorney General arranged for schools participating in his Living Law programme to visit Parliament Buildings.

During the event the Assembly Education Service provided an overview of the Northern Ireland Assembly and a tour of Parliament Buildings.  The pupils also received a talk from the First Legislative Counsel Brenda King; the Chairperson and deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Justice, Paul Given MLA and Raymond McCartney MLA; and The Speaker of the Assembly William Hay MLA.  The room was opened up for questions and the young people were able to address the speakers on a number of issues.

The day concluded with the Attorney presenting an award to Alana Hughes of Lismore Comprehensive School, for her success in the Living Law essay competition.
