Attorney General Launches his Class of 2015/16 Bar Essay Competition

The Attorney General for Northern Ireland, John F Larkin QC, today launched his essay competition for bar pupils from the 2015/16 year.

The winner and one runner up will be included on the Attorney’s Recently Qualified Junior Counsel Panel.

Bar Pupils wishing to enter the competition are asked to write no more than 2,500 words on the following topic:

“The Irish Statute Law Revision Act 2007 ‘retained’ in Schedule 1 a large number of Acts of the Parliament of Ireland and other early Irish legislative texts. What are the implications of the 2007 Act for the Northern Ireland statute book (1) as respects legislation that is ‘missing’ from the Northern Ireland statute book, and (2) as an example of law reform?”

 

Entries for the competition should be emailed to contact@attorneygeneralni.gov.uk and arrive no later than 12 noon on Monday January 30 2017.
