Attorney General Launches his 2015 Bar Pupillage Scholarship

The Attorney General for Northern Ireland, John F Larkin QC, today launched his 2015 annual Bar Pupillage scholarship. The competition is open to this year’s Bar Pupils and is awarded to the Pupil who enters the best essay on the topic below.

The winner of the scholarship will receive a bursary of £2,000 and the opportunity to undertake 20 hours of Pro Bono work within the Office of the Attorney General. In addition, the winner and runner-up will automatically be included on the Attorney’s Recently Qualified Junior Counsel Panel at the end of their non-practising Pupillage.

Bar Pupils wishing to enter the competition are asked to write 3000 – 4000 words on the following topic:

‘In 2015 Magna Carta is more a focus for legal self-congratulation rather than a living constitutional instrument.’ Discuss.

Entries for the competition should be emailed to contact@attorneygeneralni.gov.uk and arrive by 1700 hours on March 19 2015.
