Attorney General hosts Prince’s Trust

Publication date:

On Wednesday 11 January the Attorney General hosted a group of young people from the Prince’s Trust Fairbridge Programme, at Parliament Buildings.

The visit was the Attorney General’s inaugural ‘It’s Your Law’ outreach session targeted at secondary schools and young people in the community. This programme forms part of the wider Northern Ireland Executive’s Fresh Start Action Plan, with its aim to help promote responsible cooperation with authorities as part of a culture of lawfulness.

The Attorney General, speaking after the event, said:

“It has been a pleasure to work with the Fairbridge Programme today and to meet such a range of engaged and enthusiastic young people, and to hear their concerns and experiences of the law. In the long term, we will not have healthy government without informed engagement by the largest possible number of citizens and I have been heartened by the active citizens I’ve met today.”

Feedback from the Princes Trust was that “the young people loved the day up at Stormont. It was great fun and very informative. The young people took a great deal from it.”
