Publication date:

On Thursday 11 February the Attorney General hosted a panel discussion on how an improved response to anti-social behaviour can be delivered.

The discussion centred on Lower West Belfast with the panel comprising of Harry Maguire, Community Restorative Justice; Marianne O'Kane, Assistant Director, Public Prosecution Service; Fra McCann, MLA; Michael Donnelly, Community Safety Officer, Falls Community Council; Inspector Alan Swann, PSNI; and Paddy Kelly , Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

The Attorney General, speaking after the colloquium, said:

“This was a useful discussion and it laid bare the extent of the problem of crime and anti-social behaviour in parts of Belfast. Members of the community have not only spoken of the problems; they have pointed to what needs to be fixed and how what needs to be fixed could be fixed. I hope that effective discussions can lead to effective action and I have undertaken to follow-up this event with my analysis of possible next steps”
