Living Law Programme 2016/17
20 October 2016
The Attorney General has launched this year’s Living Law Programme with the unprecedented attendance of 77 Lower 6th pupils from non-grammar schools throughout Northern Ireland.
The event was hosted in the Law Society of Northern Ireland where Alan Hunter, Chief Executive, addressed the group. Mr Hunter along with law students Alana Hughes and Cal Girvan, solicitor James Turner and barrister Denise Kiley provided a useful insight and guidance towards a prospective career in law.
As a conclusion to the day the Attorney engaged the young people in a discussion on the following topic:
“Brexit means less freedom and fewer rights for the citizens of the United Kingdom”
In addition to the lower 6th event, 15 Upper 6th pupils from the 2015/16 programme were welcomed back to meet with law school representatives Prof. Sally Wheeler, Queen’s University and Amanda Zacharopoulou, Ulster University, who provided a wealth of information in respect of studying law.
